Tianjin Tuanbo New Town, China
China
Tianjin Tuanbo New Town is located within the "West Developing Range of Tianjin Rural and Urban expansion area", adjacent to Jinghai County, surrounding Tuanbo Lake.
The new town will host the 2013 East Asia Games and the Aquatic Sports Center covers no less than 34 km2 of land with a planned population of 80,000 - 100,000.
As one of 11 satellite cities identified in the Tianjin Master Plan 2005-2020, it is the closest to the city center, is 15km away from the city's existing 2008 Olympic Center and 40 km away from the international airport.
The master plan creates rich and vibrant water frontage areas, creating a high quality lakeside setting to private and relocation housing areas, new town administrative centre, commercial and financial centres, university and associated research and development parks, culture and media Business Parks, tourism development, water theme park, and extensive East Asia Games aquatic sports facilities.
The proposed East Asia Games facilities (primarily sailing, dragon boat racing, rowing, wind surfing etc) occupy just over 14 km2 of the total site area.
