Northampton expansion, UK
UK
Northampton lies at the heart of the Government's largest growth area, and will thus see some major growth over the next twenty years. Some of this development will take place on recycled brownfield sites, such as Ransome Road (pictured), which face major contamination issues. The remainder will take place on urban extensions, where transport and public opinion are the driving concerns.
Halcrow's planners are lead consultants on a string of sites across the town, playing a pivotal role in promoting their sustainable development. We have been involved from initial feasibility to site supervision, helping to deliver a blueprint for future growth which accords perfectly with our company's core values.
Having been involved from the outset, we have been able to shape plans early, with delivery at the forefront of our minds. As the strategy takes shape, our work has helped to bring to fruition the town's long-awaited western orbital route, its much-needed flood defences and a hotly anticipated country park.
Bringing together transport planning, civil engineering and masterplanning, we have taken a consciously holistic approach to this model development, the first phase of which is a nationally recognised example of best practice. Moving forward, the challenge for our team is to build upon this blueprint and to continue to raise the bar in terms of sustainable development.
