Giant Panda Park, China
Chengdu, Sichuan, China
The giant panda has received a much-needed boost to its survival chances. An ecological park in Sichuan province, China, is home to the endangered species. Halcrow provided master planning, urban design, concept architect and landscape design services for the award-winning, 234-hectare park near the city of Chengdu.
Through sensitive design, we delivered a master plan that attracts people to the park to generate vital income; ensures opportunities for interaction and engagement; but most importantly, improves the animals' long-term welfare and survival prospects.
As a team, we gained a huge sense of satisfaction and pride from our achievements on this project. The park represents a unique opportunity to make a real difference through sustainable planning and development.
On a recent site visit, a few of the team even got close enough for a cuddle with a baby panda.
