I joined Halcrow as a graduate planning consultant in January 2007 with a town and regional planning degree from the University of Dundee. I've gained hands-on experience through some large planning application jobs and I work closely with the Highways Agency, one of our major clients. My managers encouraged me to enrol in a Master of Arts in urban design on a part-time basis, which I'm due to complete this year.
We work closely with other areas of the business - our transport planning or structural engineering teams for example - so I'm constantly exposed to novel concepts and different approaches. My planning and design colleagues are on hand to provide advice and I'm always bouncing ideas for my thesis around the office. Every day is a learning process!
I love going to gigs and really appreciate uncovering great music. Whether I'm hearing a great tune for the first time or identifying best practice in urban design, I thrive on new ideas.
