Anna Woodhams
Associate town planner and urban designer
Improving people's lives is at the forefront of what we do. A large proportion of our schemes are in areas that have suffered economic decline and the resultant social malaise. I often think our work helps to restore faith in an area and gives local people real hope for something better - something that will benefit generations to come.
I'm also interested in how regeneration is perceived. As part of the Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth master planning project, we ran a series of workshops in schools to explain to pupils what we're doing. Students mapped out their own versions of the community's future, complete with wind farms, museums, leisure facilities, schools and green routes.
One of my favourite parts of the job is meeting members of the public. Helping people to think positively about their area is a major highlight and keeps me inspired! I've also been on the other side of the planning process, having helped to submit public consultation documents for my local area.
I often think about the world my son will live in, and I'm grateful that my work contributes towards a positive legacy.
