Ailsa Wright

Planning consultant

I joined Halcrow as a graduate trainee in 2007, after a stint at East Lothian Council. My work for the council's policy and projects team sparked my interest in community engagement and sustainable environments, and I've since honed my public consultation skills.

I've worked on a variety of schemes across Scotland, but the Edinburgh Tram Project stands out for me. Nestled within a world heritage site, it's the first modern tram system in Scotland.

The project has ignited people's opinions and political sensitivities, creating a unique learning experience. I've been exposed to public policy and strategy on a massive scale, and working closely with the project team has given me invaluable insights into the client's objectives.

I'm a keen indoor climber. I seek out adventure in all elements of my life, so I'm always looking for interesting angles and new ideas at work. I relish opportunities for creative thinking - but as with climbing, you need the safety rope and steady hand that Halcrow provides.
