Abu Dhabi Cityscapes Awards
Best Future Waterfront Development: Les Cotes des Anges, Tunisia
This waterfront development nominated by the Halcrow Group Development Planning & Design team won a prestigious award at Cityscapes, an international real estate and investment development event in April 2009. The judges were looking for a world class, distinctive waterfront development that maximised water as a resource and conveyed sensitivity to both local heritage as well as the existing natural environment.

Achieved by Cross Valley Link Road, Northampton, March 2009
Client: Homes and Communities Agency
Halcrow planned, designed and supervised the construction of the Cross Valley Link Road and Upton Flood Attenuation Areas in the south west district of Northampton, which have now all been completed. The CEEQUAL award was made because of the way in which all ecological and environmental issues were taken into account at all stages of the development of the road and flood mitigation schemes.
Channel Tunnel Rail Link: High Speed 1

Awarded for Planning for Transport at The RTPI Planning Awards 2004
Halcrow was one of four companies that formed the Rail link Engineering (RLE) Consortium responsible for the planning, design and implementation of the Channel Tunnel Rail link ( CTRL). As well as the engineering and transport related work, Halcrow also undertook the environmental coordination and obtained the necessary detailed consents along the route.
Ashby Woulds regeneration

Regeneration of the Ashby Woulds area of North West Leicestershire, a former clay and coal mining area; Halcrow undertook the preparation of, and consultation on, the overall regeneration strategy for the Ashby Woulds area and then subsequently submitted planning applications and accompanying transport and environmental assessments for several sites.

Wantou Area, Ningbo

Awarding body - Ningbo Wantou Development & Construction Office
Halcrow's proposed plan was based on the "9 islands, 1 core" structure of the existing plan for Wantou, and focused on consolidating and strengthening the core. The nine islands scattered around this lake are proposed to accommodate mixed uses and these will provide the animation and activity for a 24hr RBD. The total site area is 297ha.
Weiyuan Island in Humen Town, Dongguan

Halcrow prepared the concept plan for this 2000ha site, which identified the development orientation, improved the land resource alocation and spatial development, and provided designguidance forfurther development of the region.
Shuanggang New Home Residential Area (West), Tianjin

Awarding body - Tianjin House Construction Development Group Ltd.
Halcrow's scheme was structured around a principal axis (in a north-south orientation) and four minor green axes. In addition to a landscape network plan, the Halcrow scheme also proposed a three-dimensional strategy for thr green space network. The site measures 361.93ha in total.
Luogang Central Area, Guangzhou

Halcrow played a pivotal role in helping to develop this new growth district by planning a new city at its heart. This not only includes a new administrative center (310,000sq.m), but also provides office and commercial space to foster the growth of complementary businesses over a site area of 412ha. In addition, modern spaces for commercial, cultural, education, health and recreation facilities were delivered.
Yangchun Lake Subcenter, Wuhan

The development aimed at consolidating the site's regional importance by integrating Wuhan Railway Station, Yangchun Lake and East Lake. The introduction of a dominant central square within the site layout, allowed for linking the east-west urban development axis with the north-south ecological development axis. The existing Shahu and Donghu Ports were reshaped into green belts. The total site area measures 400ha.

Halcrow was commissioned as international consultant to advise on the planning of four stations and their peripheral areas in Nanhui District of Shanghai Rail Transit Line 11, a key -north-south rail route through the city which is being developed to relieve the city of traffic problems brought by rapid economic growth. The principles of TOD played a defining role in the preparation of the eventual plan.

The Bund CBD, Shanghai

Awarding body - Urban Planning Administration Bureau of Huangpu District
The project focused on establishing a balance between the unparalleled growth taking place in the "greenfield" LuJiaZui CBD and the complementary regeneration opportunities that existed within the historic Bund CBD. The aim was to create a CBD that would provide economic diversity, offer a high quality of life for a multi-cultural workforce, yet retain the area's distinctive "sense of place". The site measures 62ha.
